While archery hunting began Oct. 1, there is still a lot of deer hunting remaing for this season.
The remaining 2012-13 deer hunting seasons on the Sherburne Complex, which includes Sherburne WMA and the Atchafalaya NWR, are:
• Deer youth lottery (either-sex) — Oct. 27-28; Dec. 24, 26, 28 and 30. Contact Opelousas Field Office (337-948-0255) for more details and applications.
• Deer firearms (either-sex) — Nov. 23-24 (mandatory deer check); Nov. 25 (self-clearing)
• Deer firearms (bucks only) —
Dec. 22-Jan. 6
• Deer primitive firearms (either-sex)
— Jan. 7-13
