Dove-hunting shooting hours clarified

Information detailing dove-hunting shooting hours in the printed version of the 2012-13 Louisiana Hunting Regulations was wrong, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries reported.

The shooting-hours note on page 28 of the printed regulations booklet indicates Sept. 3 is the exception to the standard rule that shooting can start a half hour before sunrise and continue until sunset.[…]

Rig removals killing offshore habitat

Earlier this year, one of spearfisherman Terry “Papa Smurf” Migaud’s favorite oil platforms was removed. It was the Main Pass 305 platform, which Migaud said hosted “wall to wall” grouper in the winter, and large schools of amberjacks and snapper in the summer — along with a large variety of tropical fish.[…]

Body of second Lake Charles fisherman found

The body of a 25-year-old Westlake man missing since the boat in which he was fishing on Lake Charles capsized Friday evening was recovered Sunday (July 22) morning, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries reported.

Christopher Rollins was the second victim of the accident; the body of 22-year-old William R. Druilhet Jr. was recovered Saturday morning, the LDWF said.[…]
